During his first impeachment, Donald Trump was found to have attempted to extort Ukraine by withholding congressionally approved funding for military aide. He wanted to trade defense against Russia for information about Hunter Biden. Trump was not convicted by the Senate for his actions thanks to Republicans like Kevin McCarthy, who now has something critical to say against President Biden for what he believes is a failure to provide Ukraine with sufficient aid during the Russian attack against their people.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked on Monday to respond to those criticisms from McCarthy, and she was ready with a biting answer. Reminding reporters that Biden has sent a historic amount of aid to Ukraine during this struggle. As for McCarthy, she did not hold back in commenting on his hypocrisy.
‘That is in direct contrast with our predecessor who withheld hundreds of millions from Ukraine, including Javelins… McCarthy ,who was critical of us in this moment,, he defended as the right thing to do at the time because he claimed people believed there was corruption in the President Zelenskyy administration. I don’t know if that is a question for us or for him what has changed in that time.’
