Clarence & Ginni Thomas Get Roasted By ‘The Lincoln Project’

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas spoke at a recent event called the 11th Circuit Judicial Conference against supposed “bullying” of the Supreme Court in the context of pushback following a leaked draft majority opinion that would overturn abortion rights. “We are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don’t like… We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,” Thomas complained. The Lincoln Project went after him in response.

The anti-Trump group spotlighted the ties held by Clarence’s wife, Ginni, to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election outcome. Ginni texted with then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows about those efforts, sending at times remarkably pointed messages. At one juncture, she said: “Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!…You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History.” Obviously, what she was saying was fundamentally disconnected from reality. “Ginni and Clarence Thomas do seem to know a thing or two about bullying to get the results you want,” The Lincoln Project said in a new post.

The group re-shared a prior video they’d put together targeting Clarence and Ginni. In the production, a narrator says: “Justice Clarence Thomas is compromised. On January 19, 2022, Thomas was the only Supreme Court Justice willing to help Trump and his allies hide from justice over the January 6 insurrection. Thomas did not hide that he was willing to grant Trump’s request for secrecy — but it wasn’t just to protect Trump and his conspirators. It was to protect his wife, Ginni Thomas. A radical right-wing activist, Ginni Thomas has openly applauded rebellion in the past… And the lead-up to January 6 was no different. Ginni Thomas used her direct line to Trump’s White House to push for the overturning of a free and fair election — even attending the rally that would ultimately end in an attack on the U.S. Capitol… Clarence Thomas must recuse himself, because he took an oath to protect the Constitution, not his wife.” See the new post below:

As previously reported here, the Supreme Court decision referenced by The Lincoln Project was the court’s response to an attempt by former President Trump to keep the House committee investigating the Capitol riot from accessing certain records from his administration. Thomas was the only Justice to support the ex-president’s request. To be clear, however, it doesn’t seem like texts between Ginni Thomas and Mark Meadows were included in the White House records that were the subject of the Supreme Court’s decision here. Rather, the texts were apparently part of items handed over to the riot panel by Meadows himself before he stopped cooperating. None of those details, however, absolve Clarence of responsibility for dealing with certain serious concerns — his wife’s participation, even in passing, in what amounted to plotting an overturning of a legitimate presidential election presents a wild conflict of interest that can’t be denied. For Clarence to rule on matters related to the election or attempts to overturn it would ignore these compelling issues. His wife had a stake in what went on!
