Donald Trump seems to be getting somehow even more upset about the proceedings of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot. This Tuesday, the panel held a surprise hearing featuring testimony from ex-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, and Trump was paying attention.

Trump flipped out on Truth Social, his alternative social media platform. “I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and “leaker”), and when she requested to go with certain others of the team to Florida after my having served a full term in office, I personally turned her request down,” Trump said. “Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible? I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didn’t want her to go, or be a member of the team. She is bad news!” Hutchinson worked with then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows at the time of the Capitol riot and was in the presidential motorcade when it went from the the D.C. rally where Trump spoke that day back to the White House. She wasn’t just some nobody.

In another post, Trump disputed a claim from Hutchinson that he was pushing for the magnetometers in the screening process for his January 6 rally speech to be removed. He claimed no guns to have been “found or brought into the Capitol Building,” which is straightforwardly false. “Never complained about the crowd, it was massive,” Trump ranted. “I didn’t want or request that we make room for people with guns to watch my speech. Who would ever want that? Not me! Besides, there were no guns found or brought into the Capitol Building…So where were all of these guns? But sadly, a gun was used on Ashli Babbitt, with no price to pay against the person who used it!”

Trump also disputed an allegation from Hutchinson that he grabbed at the steering wheel of the presidential vehicle when he got in after his January 6 speech and found the head of his Secret Service detail pushing for him to go to the White House rather than the Capitol, as Trump apparently wanted. “Her Fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House Limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol Building is “sick” and fraudulent, very much like the Unselect Committee itself – Wouldn’t even have been possible to do such a ridiculous thing,” as the ex-president put it. “Her story of me throwing food is also false…and why would SHE have to clean it up, I hardly knew who she was?” Does Donald really want to go with the defense that he’s not that ridiculous? He does know we could all see his Twitter posts for the years and years he had an account on the platform, right? He also knows we could all see what he was doing as president and it wasn’t some kind of video game simulation, right?

Trump posted at least eight more times and counting about Hutchinson’s testimony. “She changed lawyers a couple of days ago, and with it, her story totally changed! SHOCKER???… Chaney conveniently left out the snippet in my speech to, “GO PEACEFULLY & PATRIOTICALLY.” Isn’t she disgraceful???… There is no cross examination of this so-called witness. This is a Kangaroo Court!… Her body language is that of a total bull…. artist. Fantasy Land!” The posts also included Trump complaining that more attention isn’t getting paid to his imaginary evidence of non-existent election fraud. “Bad handwriting, that of a Whacko?” Trump said in another post. He is staggeringly desperate. The ex-president’s posts stretch out over more than an hour.
