Donald Trump is still mad about the House committee investigating the Capitol riot.
“Warmongering and despicable human being Liz Cheney, who is hated by the great people of Wyoming (down 35!), keeps saying, over and over again, that HER Fake Unselect Committee may recommend CRIMINAL CHARGES against a President of the United States who got more votes than any sitting President in history,” Trump complained on July 4 on his Truth Social platform. Clearly, he’s not exactly having a stress-free holiday. Cheney indicated criminal referrals implicating Trump remained a possibility in a new interview with ABC. “Even the Dems didn’t know what she was talking about! Why doesn’t she press charges instead against those that cheated on the Election, or those that didn’t properly protect the Capitol?” the former president angrily added.
Cheney doesn’t have the power to “press charges.” Additionally, there remains no evidence that — as Trump’s previously claimed — any Democratic leader actually rejected thousands of National Guard troops then-President Trump supposedly offered for Capitol security on January 6. (He has previously explained in more specific terms at least some of what he means by supposedly failing to take appropriate Capitol defense precautions.) There’s no record of a formal National Guard authorization from Trump, and leaders like Pelosi don’t have the power to reject such a thing.
“Why doesn’t the highly partisan Unselect Committee of political Thugs, the same people (all Trump haters & profiteers – books, speeches, etc.) that were involved with Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax # 2, the “No Collusion” Mueller Report and, overall, the GREATEST WITCH HUNT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, go after the people who have been rioting, burning down cities, leading the massive crime wave, & killing many all over the U.S., including drug & human traffickers? No, let’s get “Trump”!” Trump added on July 4. No city in the United States has been “burned down.” Meanwhile, there’s a lot more to recent patterns in crime across the country, but why exactly would the House riot committee target, say, drug traffickers, since others — including in actual law enforcement — are already doing that? Is that going to be Trump’s defense if he’s ever criminally charged for meddling with the election? “Well, Your Honor, what about the drug traffickers?”
Trump eventually got around to mentioning the holiday. After the preceding posts, he added Monday: “I know it’s not looking good for our Country right now, with a major War raging out of control in Europe, the Highest Inflation in memory, the worst 6 month Stock Market start in History, the highest Energy Prices EVER, and that is the Good News. Happy Fourth of July!!! ((Don’t worry, We will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and remember, none of these terrible events would have happened if I were President!!!))” For Trump to have claimed worldwide inflation, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and other serious developments simply wouldn’t be unfolding if he were president is just utterly ridiculous. Does he think there’s a magic “stop crisis now” button that only he can access?
