Jenna Ellis, who once served on the post-election legal and de facto PR team for Donald Trump and now does… something, decided one of the best uses of her time this week was to angrily rant on Twitter about Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, who promptly shut her down.
Biles received the Presidential Medal of Freedom this week. The award is among the highest honors that can be awarded to civilians by the U.S. federal government. “Simone Biles is the most decorated American gymnast in history, with a combined total of 32 Olympic and World Championship medals,” a White House announcement about the award stated. “Biles is also a prominent advocate for athletes’ mental health and safety, children in the foster care system, and victims of sexual assault.” The administration announced she would be obtaining the award at the same time they announced 16 other recipients. “Fittingly, Biden awarded his presidential medals to fellow losers, Biles and [Megan] Rapinoe,” Ellis whined on Twitter.
In response to a post rhetorically asking why Ellis made those comments, the ex-Trump attorney continued: “Because Biles is a selfish quitter and Rapinoe is a boorish unAmerican bully. They’re losers, not role models. Biden is making a mockery of everything solemn, like the presidential medal of freedom.” It’s utterly remarkable for Ellis to act as though she’s in a position to authoritatively speak about being a role model. She was one of the clownish goons on the Trump squad as they galloped around the country trying to prove imaginary election fraud. As for Ellis’s ridiculous reference to Biles as a “quitter”: for some weird reason, certain conservatives took serious personal offense at a decision Biles made to withdraw from the full participation she’d previously been slated for in last year’s Tokyo Olympics. Biles’s decision was in connection to mental health concerns. “who is Jenna Ellis? Asking for everyone,” Biles quipped on Twitter.
Ellis’s opinion just isn’t as important as she might think. Ellis was recently subpoenaed (apparently for testimony) in the ongoing criminal investigation in Georgia by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis into attempts by Trump and certain allies of his to undercut Biden’s win there in the 2020 presidential election. Others subpoenaed include close Trump allies Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
