Donald sounds worried.
On his alternative social media platform Truth Social, he flipped out — again — this Thursday, as federal investigators continue their criminal investigation into the handling of government records from his administration.
“Even though I am as innocent as a person can be, and despite MY campaign being spied on by the Radical Left, the FISA COURT being lied to and defrauded, all of the many Hoaxes and Scams that were illegally placed on me by very sick & demented people, and without even mentioning the many crimes of Joe and Hunter Biden, all revealed in great detail in the Laptop From Hell, it looks more and more like the Fake News Media is pushing hard for the Sleaze to do something that should not be done!” Trump ranted. Is he trying to suggest “the Fake News Media” is pushing for criminal charges? Does he remember spending so much of his own time in the public spotlight pushing for prosecutions of his political opponents? The difference here is that there’s actual evidence. FBI agents actually found documents marked classified in a Mar-a-Lago storage area where authorities were previously told no such materials remained.
“Joe Biden said he knew nothing about the Break-In of Mar-a-Lago or, the greatest political attack in the history of the U.S. Does anybody really believe this???” Trump added Thursday. It wasn’t a “break-in.” As for the former president’s broader point, it’s a good thing that reality isn’t dependent on what Donald Trump finds believable. There remains no evidence that Biden was in any way in the loop on the decision at the Justice Department to pursue a search warrant authorizing a raid of Mar-a-Lago amid the documents probe. A May letter from the head of the National Archives indicating Biden left the decision with the Archivist and a top Justice Department official of whether to accept executive privilege claims from Trump’s corner regarding documents the FBI wanted doesn’t mean Biden was involved with the probe itself.
Trump also claimed in a follow-up post that those opposite him in the documents probe are attempting to somehow get around a piece of federal law known as the Presidential Records Act. It’s the Presidential Records Act which mandates that the National Archives take possession and control of covered administration records after a president leaves office. Some of his legal team’s rambling filings might further explain the point Trump was trying to make, but in the meantime, it’s unclear. “The Radical Left Democrat prosecutors are illegally trying to circumvent, for purely political gain, the Presidential Record’s Act, under which I have done absolutely nothing wrong,” Trump insisted. “It can not be circumvented, for me or any other President. They illegally Raided my home, and took things that should not have been taken. They even broke into my safe, an unthinkable act!” In another Thursday post, he just repeated the name of the law in all-caps.
He also complained about information in the media regarding the case, although the origin of it all is unclear. “The Justice Department and FBI are “leaking” at levels never seen before – and I did nothing wrong!!!” the ex-president angrily said.
