For anyone, the thought of going to prison and losing everything is a terrifying one. That is also true of the twice-impeached ex-president who lost the popular vote twice and tried to stage a coup, Donald Trump, who has demonstrated his own fears throughout the day on his social media platform, Truth Social, with tantrums and nonsense claims of a conspiracy around the investigation of his alleged violations of the Espionage Act.
FBI agents aren’t quitting in droves anymore than they did when James Comey was still their director. The current director of the FBI, the man overseeing the FBI’s role in the search of Trump’s Florida home at Mar-a-lago, was appointed by none other than the man claiming that the search was politically motivated by those affiliated with the Democratic Party. Christopher Wray was appointed in 2017 after Trump committed one of his first acts of obstruction of justice by firing the man investigating him for alleged collusion with the Russian government.
The truth is that Trump is watching his business and his social media platform slip away from him. Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg pleaded guilty in court earlier in the week, saying that he committed crimes of tax fraud along with Trump Organization higher-ups, and there was no one higher up than the ex-president. His platform, Truth Social, has also recently been the subject of talk since he was revealed to have failed to pay his web host over $1.6 million. His platform also isn’t growing since the raid and neither is his popularity in the GOP, who have been largely silent since the affidavit related to the search of Mar-a-lago was released.
Trump is clearly frightened, as well as he should be. His clear violation of the Espionage Act is a crime, no matter how much Trump insists the investigation is politically motivated.
