Biden Cleverly Fact Checks Peter Doocy For Lying About The Facts

Fox goon Peter Doocy questioned President Joe Biden this week about whether he believes all Trump supporters pose a threat to the United States.

Doocy’s questioning followed a Thursday night speech in which Biden warned Americans of the threats from “MAGA Republicans,” who he defined in very specific terms in the speech, outlining how he wasn’t talking about every Trump voter. “Do you consider all Trump supporters to be a threat to the country?” Doocy asked, missing the point of the president’s previous remarks. Biden explained in response that he wasn’t targeting Trump supporters in general. Rather, he was singling out those — many of whom also support Trump — who, among other issues, seem disturbingly fine with essentially throwing out the outcomes of elections on a whim, or at least trying to do so.

“I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden explained Friday to Doocy. “I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence… refuses to acknowledge when an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which… you count votes, that is a threat to democracy. Democracy. And everything we stand for — everything we stand for rests on the platform of democracy. When people voted for Donald Trump and support him now, they weren’t voting for attacking the Capitol. They weren’t voting for overruling an election. They were voting for a philosophy he put forward. So I am not talking about anything other than — it is inappropriate, and it is not only happening here, but [in] other parts of the world, where there’s a failure to recognize and condemn violence whenever it’s used for political purposes, failure to condemn an attempt to manipulate electoral outcomes, failure to acknowledge when elections were won or lost.”

Since Biden made his Thursday night speech, interests on the Right — including Trump himself — have been freaking out. On his alternative social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed Biden “threatened America, including with the possible use of military force,” which is ridiculous. Biden neither explicitly nor implicitly did any such thing. Instead, the president repeatedly spoke of an effort at obtaining unity among Americans across political affiliations. For Biden to face dramatic push-back from Republicans for his speech showcases a glaring double standard. Trump has repeatedly pushed for the prosecution of various political opponents, and in office, he spoke dismissively of the impacts from COVID-19 in so-called “blue states,” although no state anywhere in the country is singly “red” or “blue” — not that such would be a reasonable standard anyway. Thousands of Americans were dying, and Trump wouldn’t let go of the politics. That’s far more galling than Biden pointing out that it’s dangerous to try and upend the results of elections.
