Lauren Boebert Hit With Embarrassing Defamation Lawsuit

A PAC that helped target Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) ahead of his ignominious defeat in his primary earlier this year is now suing Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) for defamation after she claimed the organization knew claims it made about her were false.

The PAC, the American Muckrakers PAC, promoted multiple allegations that were particularly salacious, including that Boebert once worked as an escort and that she had two abortions. The abortions would obviously reveal yet another prominent Republican official ensnared in hypocrisy about something critical, although supporting evidence is lacking. “The lawsuit will show that Boebert had no idea that all of the PAC and Wheeler’s information came directly from hours of recorded phone calls and other written and verbal information with former employees, former friends, and Republican political operatives in Colorado,” the organization claimed. Unlike Cawthorn, who faced intense opposition from inside the GOP, even including one of his state’s U.S. Senators, Boebert won her primary. A recent poll from the campaign of her Democratic challenger, Adam Frisch, showed him just two percent behind Boebert, although her area has a Republican lean.

The PAC connects comments Boebert made to negative impacts — particularly, decreasing fundraising — sustained at the organization. They also allege in an available press release that she was intentionally targeting the group’s fundraising, claiming she acted “with the sole purpose of drying up their fundraising – which she did – and killing off the organization – which she didn’t – in retribution for daring to challenge her in her re-election campaign.” After Boebert maligned the PAC, its average monthly fundraising fell from $20,000 a month to around $3,800 a month, according to legal filings. The lawsuit was filed in North Carolina, which David Wheeler, a leader at the PAC, says is appropriate in connection to Boebert’s activities in the state including a September rally appearance. The Congresswoman originally spoke about the PAC’s earlier allegations with conservative media figures including Sean Hannity and Tomi Lahren. Now, Wheeler and the PAC are seeking financial damages.

In Congress, Boebert has often seemed most concerned with cultivating attention for herself rather than securing progress for her constituents, and in related remarks accompanying the recently released poll data, Frisch characterized her as more interested in a show than governing. “Nancy Pelosi & her House Democrats could solve the crisis at our open border easily, but don’t want to do ANYTHING but let it continue on,” Boebert recently said on Twitter, illustrating her ignorance. “They’re willing to allow your children to die of Fentanyl poisoning just so they have people to “pick crops”.” What does any of that actually mean? The southern border isn’t “open” in any reasonable sense of the word, and obviously, Democrats aren’t unconcerned about dangerous narcotics — let alone just looking the other way regarding threats against children.
