A new lawsuit against Donald Trump has surfaced that links back to the days of The Apprentice television show. Four investors in one of Trump’s schemes had to wait a decade to prosecute the previous president. This alleged racket involved a Trump videophone venture called Celebrity Apprentice.

The ex-president was deposed in earlier in the month for this lawsuit, and The Bloomberg News has just reported on the suit. The New York judge on the case forced Trump to appear by October 31 for his testimony. Given Hurricane Ian, the former president was ironically allowed to testify via videophone.

The Trump Organization, Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka, and Eric were all sued by the four people who invested in what they later considered a scam:

‘[F]our investors who claim they were duped by Trump’s promotions into paying thousands of dollars to become independent sellers with ACN Opportunity LLC, which sold a doomed videophone device that the future US president touted as the next big thing. The clunky devices were made obsolete by smartphones.’

After the deposition, a “fierce war of words” between the attorneys representing Trump and the plaintiffs broke out. According to the four investors’ lawyers, the clients were eager to learn why Trump personally promoted the “easy money selling the video phones:”

‘[W]ithout any of the risks most entrepreneurs have to take.’

The litigants accused the Trumps of a ruse, lying about their belief in these videophones. And as it turned out, the family was profiting the entire time for simply promoting the soon-to-be-obsolete device. The marketing was complex and involved the defendants starring in a  promo video and also promoting the device in person at the manufacturer’s events.

Just Security has been tracking 22 lawsuits against Trump. Three of them were labeled “Closed.”

And this week Trump was deposed in a separate high-profile case involving the alleged rape and defamation of columnist E. Jean Carroll, according to the BBC. Since New York laws around rape cases changed on October 1, 2022, Carroll was able to sue the previous POTUS for defamation of character. She alleged the former president raped her during the 1990’s in a Manhattan department store dressing room.

Reacting to the news about his deposition, Trump immediately went out to the media and complained, which only enhanced Carroll’s case. The ex-president was not protected by his presidential rights, because it had nothing to do with his job description.

According to Reuters, other lawsuits against Trump include cases about:

  • ‘Missing Government Documents
  • New York Attorney General Civil Suit
  • New York Criminal Probe for Tax Fraud
  • Defamation Cases
  • U.S. Capitol Attack
  • Georgia Election Tampering Probe’
