Alexander Vindman Rallies America Against GOP Fascists

With early voting underway in states across the country, ret. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman joined those encouraging Americans to vote — and vote against the GOP — in this year’s midterms.

“Vote!! Let’s save our democracy… and help improve American lives,” Vindman said Monday, with what is approaching just a week left until Election Day. “The other side won’t do either! #VoteBlueIn2022” Polls around the country show close races in states that could be critical to deciding control of the Senate — and determining who could exert key power over the handling of presidential election results in two years. Democrats in Senate races from Ohio to Georgia have outraised their Republican challengers by significant levels, but only time will tell whether the fundraising gap, with Democrats in the lead, is enough. In Georgia, the chasm is particularly striking.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), who is running for re-election, raised some $11.9 million in individual contributions just from October 1 to the 19th, per federally available data. Republican Herschel Walker, his challenger, only raised some $5.7 million in individual contributions in the same period. Warnock also had about twice as much in cash on hand, meaning available funds, when that reporting period ended. In fundraising terms, Warnock’s campaign has consistently been among the best-performing in the country among federal candidates. John Fetterman, the Democrat running for Senate in Pennsylvania, has also raised much more than Mehmet Oz, aka Dr. Oz, his Trump-backed Republican opponent. Oz has spent tens of millions of dollars of his own money fueling his campaign, while Fetterman has relied on often majority-small dollar donations totaling millions ahead of Oz’s haul.

From October 1 to the 19th, Fetterman raised $8.4 million in contributions from individuals, while Oz’s total in the same category from the same period was just $3.4 million. The Republican contender has faced accusations of carpetbagging and criticism over his stance on issues including reproductive rights. He expressed support for deciding on abortion access at the state level, but what if he wins and no longer faces imminent pressure from voters? He could change his stance.
