Christina Bobb, who has worked in right-wing media and as a lawyer for Trump including in dealing with the federal government’s pursuit of classified documents Donald was harboring in Florida, was recently subpoenaed in a defamation lawsuit from the election technology company Smartmatic.

The company was for some reason used in pro-Trump conspiracy theories after the 2020 presidential election about systematic fraud that supposedly unfolded, although Smartmatic was barely even used in the 2020 elections anywhere in the United States. Rudy Giuliani prominently claimed the company owned Dominion Voting Systems — another often-maligned firm, and Sidney Powell alleged several people supposedly involved with it made technology specifically for changing votes — using someone in her conspiracy theories who says he didn’t even have any kind of business role at the company. Smartmatic subpoenaed Bobb amid its lawsuit against Fox News, and under the order’s terms, she is required to provide a series of communications including any related to Mike Lindell, One America News, Newsmax, Mike Flynn, and others involved in promoting conspiracy theories about elections.

After the 2020 election, Bobb conducted an interview for One America News with a man named Ed Solomon, who the network identified as a mathematician and who shared bombastic claims about the supposedly mathematical impossibility of key portions of Biden’s win. In reality, Solomon was employed as a swing set installer in New York at the time of the interview and held no college degree. Bobb was also involved with raising money to support an infamous audit of the 2020 election results in Maricopa County, Arizona, that was overseen by GOP state Senators, handled at least in substantial part by contractors with zero prior experience auditing elections — and despite a tidal wave of hype from Trump’s corner ultimately didn’t change anything.

Separately, One America News has been sued by both Smartmatic and Dominion. Both cases against the struggling far-right media outlet, which has been dropped by major cable providers, were allowed to move forward in recent months by a federal judge. The Smartmatic case against Fox in which Bobb was subpoenaed also named Rudy Giuliani and Lou Dobbs among its defendants. In related news, Trump has now explicitly pushed the prospect on Truth Social of suspending electoral rules in the Constitution in his push to get back in power, undo the 2020 election results, or some combination of the two. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he claimed. Imagine the apocalyptic levels of outrage on the Right if even a single Democrat said this or anything kind of similar.
