The Republican Party has turned their grievances over how unfairly they’re treated into a patented mantra as they insist that Democrats, somehow, have an infinitely greater amount of power than they do that keeps them out of trouble and never held accountable for doing the same things the GOP does. Never mind that there have been a fairly equal number of members of Congress elected from both sides, judges appointed by both parties, and presidents elected from both sides of the aisle. Democrats somehow get away with everything while the GOP is unfairly martyred.
What’s even worse? Their supporters believe it and never question why it would be that their party supposedly lacks an equal amount of power. They’re just victims. And the grievance game on the Right continues to be their go-to stance.

Take for instance Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) who appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd on Sunday morning. Jordan insisted to Todd that Donald Trump, the twice-impeached ex-president who lost the popular vote twice and tried to stage a coup, has been unfairly treated after taking classified documents from Washington D.C., documents he first insisted to the FBI that he did not have and later that he declassified them, and refusing to return them.
Jordan ranted about Trump’s home being “raided” by the FBI (it was never a raid, just a search warrant which Trump was told about prior to the search) while President Joe Biden’s was not.

Todd pushed back, reminding Jordan of the differences between the Trump and Biden classified documents incidents. They’re not even similar.
‘Because Biden didn’t defy a subpoena, congressman. He defied a subpoena. By the way, he had 60 days to comply with the subpoena before they actually executed the search warrant.’
Jordan continued down his same grievance line, unfazed, insisting that the two men had not received equal treatment under the law. Of course, that’s likely because the two situations are different, but don’t tell Jordan or the GOP that. If they were forced to accept it, they’d have to admit their dear leader is simply a criminal.
