Over the four years that Donald Trump, the twice-impeached ex-president who lost the popular vote twice and tried to stage a coup, was in office, he told more than 30,000 lies. He made lying a public sport, spinning tall tales about winning awards that do not exist, appearing on magazine covers that were never published, and offered a whole host of other misleading or flatly untrue statements.
Enter George Santos.

Santos has already been caught in a tangled web of many lies, including crazy tales of where he went to college (he didn’t), the sports he played there (he also didn’t), and the way his mother died (it wasn’t in New York City on 9/11). Now, he’s accused of much more than lying. An employee at Santos’s D.C. office named Derek Myers, who was briefly hired and then saw his job offer rescinded, wrote a letter to the House Ethics Committee and posted it on Twitter, claiming that Santos sexually harassed and accosted him.
According to The New York Times:
‘Mr. Myers said in the letter that he was alone with Mr. Santos in his office on Jan. 25 when the congressman asked him whether he had a profile on Grindr, a popular gay dating app. Then, he said, Mr. Santos invited him to karaoke and touched his groin, assuring him that his husband was out of town.’
Myers was at the center of a scandal one year prior when a newspaper he ran published audio of courtroom testimony sent to him by an outside source. Journalists backed him, demanding the wiretapping charges be dropped, and Santos’ office says that scandal was the reason behind Myers’ rescinded job offer. Myers himself confirmed that claim. Regardless, he says, the claims he made in the letter to the ethics committee stand.
