Top Democrat Targets Kevin McCarthy & House GOP For Threatening Law & Order

Republicans like to try and associate themselves with police and support for figures in law enforcement, and yet, guess what Trump posted online this week? A call to defund authorities.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who himself has multiple family ties to law enforcement, pointed out the hypocrisy. “The metamorphosis is complete,” Swalwell said online Wednesday. “Kevin McCarthy leads a defund the police party in Congress. @HouseDemocrats will continue to fund the police to keep our communities safe and ensure we have high standards of training and accountability for law enforcement.”

Trump’s original comments were direct. “REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS SHOULD DEFUND THE DOJ AND FBI UNTIL THEY COME TO THEIR SENSES,” he complained earlier Wednesday. “THE DEMOCRATS HAVE TOTALLY WEAPONIZED LAW ENFORCEMENT IN OUR COUNTRY AND ARE VICIOUSLY USING THIS ABUSE OF POWER TO INTERFERE WITH OUR ALREADY UNDER SIEGE ELECTIONS!” It’s Trump himself who ensured that law enforcement action against him would have anything to do with an election, since he announced he was running for office as preexisting criminal investigations continued to move forward. Political differences alone aren’t enough to somehow prove a bias against Trump. Arguments alleging political motivations on the part of New York state Attorney General Letitia James in what is now a civil lawsuit have been repeatedly rejected in court, and trial in that case is approaching in October of this year — months before Trump could be going on trial again, that time in the criminal case.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has also sold swag bearing a message that supported stripping funding from the FBI, something Swalwell has also referenced. See his message below:
