Removing Marjorie Greene From House Homeland Security Committee Sought By Democrat

A political advocacy organization called MeidasTouch has called for the removal of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from her committee roles in the House after she expressed support — rather intense support, really — for Jake Teixeira, a member of the Air National Guard who leaked protected military files. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) also said, more specifically, that she should be removed from the House Homeland Security Committee.

Greene, who also has a role on the House Oversight Committee, has misrepresented the nature of what Teixeira disclosed, apparently taking it as a fact that U.S. troops have been at least likely operating in combat capacities in Ukraine amid that country’s war with Russia, which is false. “US troops are not fighting in Ukraine,” Fox journalist Jacqui Heinrich said, replying to Greene. “NSC’s John Kirby tells Fox there is a small military presence at the Embassy in conjunction with the Defense Attaché’s office working on accountability of material – not providing battlefield support.” NSC refers to the federal entity known as the National Security Council, and the task Heinrich referenced involves basically tracking what would apparently be some of the weapons the U.S. has very openly provided Ukraine in support of its defense.

“Remember: Kevin McCarthy put Marjorie Taylor Greene on committees that give her access to our classified information,” MeidasTouch said in a post on Twitter. “She needs to be thrown off her committees immediately, if not expelled.” In her committee roles in this Congress, Greene has already distinguished herself with commentary like characterizing the shooting death of Capitol rioter Ashli Babbitt as a murder, although no such legal determination was made. She also helped lead a supportive visit to a D.C. jail where detainees whose cases originate with the riot have been held. A Democrat on that visit (Garcia) claimed participating Republicans treated detained rioters like celebrities while inside.

In Teixeira’s case, Greene is asserting he was targeted for basically political reasons, an assertion for which there is no apparently real evidence. If he leaked the documents, that’s a straightforward offense under U.S. law that has nothing to do with what he thinks about the political scene or his personal and family backgrounds. “Jake Teixeira is white, male, christian, and antiwar,” Greene claimed. “That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime.” It’s difficult to even fact-check something so ridiculous. Just look to the basic details and see there is a whole, substantive case that is unrelated to the fact he’s white!
