In moments that have at this point been circulated extremely widely, a bicycling protester named Joe Flood confronted an extreme-right group that gathered in D.C. for demonstrations this past weekend. “Get a job, losers!” he yelled, sticking around for some time and, as footage shows, keeping the insults flowing.
The show of racist vitriol to which Flood was responding was the work of Patriot Front, a far-right group that’s sometimes shown its face — though not literally, since people in the crowd were wearing items to obscure their identities.
Cops were assembled near the demonstrators, presumably to try and keep the peace if anybody who was either protesting or counter-protesting was deemed, well, a threat of some kind. Flood said online that his sarcastic jabs eventually made police laugh too, though.
“The insults that got to them: calling the speaker Custer’s bastard son, asking him how long his speech was, why didn’t you memorize your speech, mocking the Walmart khakis (the cops laughed at that) and generally annoying them by bike,” Flood wrote Saturday on Twitter. There is video of a lot of what Flood referenced. “No one likes you,” Flood mockingly said at one point. “You’re not even matching — you’ve all got different types of pants on,” Flood added. (The obvious point of the way the far-right loons were dressing was to look similar, but as Flood accurately noted, their similar attire was still lacking.)
The sorts of people Flood was mocking might find a home in Trump’s political corner, as he continues to prove himself to be accepting even to individuals who participated — and were charged in connection to — the violent attack on the Capitol seen in early 2021. He reiterated his interest in pardoning some of these people during a recent discussion on CNN. See Flood’s bicycling protest below:
