Jimmy Kimmel Gets Hollywood’s Stars To Laugh En Masse At Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump was watching the Oscars this Sunday evening, an event hosted this time around by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. And Trump had some thoughts.

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be,” Trump wrote late Sunday on his knock-off social media site Truth Social, adding: “Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths.”

Kimmel read a portion of the ex-president’s remarks onstage during later parts of the event to uproarious laughs from the crowd, which was comprised of cinema heavyweights from the U.S. and abroad5. “See if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social,” Kimmel told the still laughing audience. “Anyone? No? Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. I’m surprised you’re still up. Isn’t it past your jail time?” Kimmel’s concluding jab produced even more laughs and cheering from the crowd.

Trump, long known as obsessive over his public image, continues facing four criminal cases, amid which the first trial is slated to begin later this very month in New York covering allegations from local prosecutors of the falsification of business records in connection to hush money from before the 2016 elections. Moving the process along, Judge Juan Merchan rebuffed complaints from the Trump team about supposed impacts on Trump’s ongoing campaign for president from preparations for trial.

The judge also recently directed that jurors’ identities will be kept under wraps, though trial proceedings will still be accessible to the press and public. Prosecutors requested that restrictive measure amid continuing concerns about rhetoric by Trump potentially spurring violence.
