As documented in social media posts featuring a series of video clips, protesters gathered recently in a residential neighborhood of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh following the high court’s ruling that granted presidents a layer of legal immunity, meaning protection from prosecution.

The conservative court majority outlined those protections following an appeal from Donald Trump, who challenged a criminal case accusing him of conspiring against the 2020 election outcome, meaning Biden’s victory that year. The eventual decision said a president would receive “absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority” and a presumption of immunity for “official acts,” all of which teed up new proceedings in the Trump case on whether certain conduct alleged of the ex-president fell within the newly established protections.

Like in footage from protests that were apparently at a residence of Chief Justice John Roberts, there are security personnel from presumably a U.S. government detail for Kavanaugh visible in these latest clips.

“This evening, we paid a visit to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s neighborhood. We played back the words of Kavanaugh and the other justices, that no one was above the law. Words they clearly didn’t mean. #SCOTUSIsCorrupt #KavanaughLies,” said a post from @LiteraryMouse on X (formerly Twitter), a platform user also involved in the Roberts protests.

There were similar protests after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which until its undoing established a national legal baseline of legal protections for abortion.

Other reactions to the immunity ruling include discussions of proposing a Constitutional amendment to reverse it and plans from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for articles of impeachment targeting the Supreme Court’s membership. She didn’t specify names, but presumably high on the list would be conservative Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas.
