Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is jumping on the bandwagon of deeming what’s been going on in the GOP lately to be just plain weird, in the sense of something off-putting.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman who unsuccessfully ran for this year’s Republican presidential nomination and then turned around to endorse Donald Trump, was complaining about it. “This whole “they’re weird” argument from the Democrats is dumb & juvenile,” he complained — glossing over the fact that the guy he is supporting in this election is known for giving his opponents demeaning nicknames. “This is a presidential election, not a high school prom queen contest. It’s also a tad ironic coming from the party that preaches “diversity & inclusion.” Win on policy if you can, but cut the crap please.”

“Being obsessed with repressing women is goofy. Trying to watch what LGBTQ+ people do all the time is abnormal. Punishing people who don’t have biological offspring is creepy. It’s an incel platform, dude. It’s SUPER weird. And people need to know,” replied the Democratic Congresswoman. Her post was viewed several million times within hours, said metrics on X (formerly Twitter).

Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz recently helped kick-start this round of campaign messaging against the GOP in its current, Trump-led incarnation.

He is considered a possibility for running mate alongside Vice President Kamala Harris in the latter’s new role as this year’s expected Democratic presidential nominee following the recent withdrawal from this year’s election of President Joe Biden, who endorsed Harris to take his place. Walz has made himself prominent lately in media appearances and out on the campaign trail, though he was already somewhat prominent nationally for spearheading a wave of progressive policy change after the 2022 midterm elections gave Democrats unified control of the Minnesota legislature and governor’s office.

“Listen to the guy. He’s talking about Hannibal Lecter and shocking sharks and just whatever crazy thing pops into his mind, and I thought we just give him way too much credit,” Walz said on CNN, referring to Trump. “My observation on this is, have you ever seen the guy laugh? That seems very weird to me that an adult can go through six and a half years of being in the public eye. If he has laughed, it’s at someone, not with someone. That is weird behavior!”
