Olivia Troye, who served as an advisor in the Trump administration, where she worked with then-Vice President Mike Pence, is endorsing current Vice President Kamala Harris amid the latter’s ongoing bid for the nation’s top job.

Harris recently took over as Democrats’ presidential election torchbearer for the year after the withdrawal from this year’s race of President Joe Biden, who endorsed Harris to replace him. (Biden’s staying on as president.) And Harris’ start in the race appeared to drive a campaign trail jump-start for Democrats, with promising polling numbers already starting to come in at both the national level and in closely watched swing states including Michigan and Georgia, both of which took on a high profile in the last race for the White House.

“As someone who served in the Trump White House, I witnessed the destruction & chaos firsthand. A second Trump term will bring more turmoil. As a lifelong Republican, I may not agree with Kamala Harris on everything, but I trust her to protect our freedoms, uphold the rule of law & provide steady leadership on the world stage. That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris. #RepublicansforHarris,” Troye posted Sunday morning on X, the site formerly called Twitter.

Meanwhile, Harris is gearing up to publicly unveil her selection for running mate for this year’s election, with the nation’s current second-in-command apparently working through some final stages of the selection process this weekend. Already floated possibilities include a handful of Democratic governors, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), and Pete Buttigieg, the federal Secretary of Transportation and an outspoken Democratic figurehead.
