This Monday, a rapid response team on the Kamala Harris presidential campaign called out Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for his public campaign schedule, which as of Monday afternoon showed just a single forthcoming event taking place in Montana — which isn’t exactly a swing state!
“Low energy, @realdonaldtrump?” asked a social media post from the Harris team that included a graphic comparing those latest Harris and Trump campaign schedules. The Harris campaign is heading in coming days to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada — and in what’ll no doubt drive even more attention on the Democrat’s presidential bid, she’s also expected to announce her running mate choice this week.
And Trump is going to Montana, though that’s just the events set to actually feature Trump personally. His running mate will also be out there elsewhere. Harris is personally visiting the closely watched states mentioned above.
“Montana? That he won by 17 points? That has only 4 electoral votes? WTF?” asked Dana Houle, evidently a former legislative staffer, wondering about the Trump-specific event.
“Energetic and exciting v. Old and tired,” added Dan Pfeiffer, a former Obama advisor and popular liberal podcast host.
“Well, he’s decrepit and she is energetic, young and fit,” continued writer Jen Rubin, contrasting Harris and the ex-president.
Reported finalists in the current second-in-command’s consideration for who to make her 2024 running mate included Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly — all Democrats.
Harris recently taking over as Democrats’ presidential election torchbearer upon the withdrawal from the election of President Joe Biden already translated to a round of positive, promising polling for Democrats nationally and in key states. Bloomberg/Morning Consult polling in Michigan, for instance, found Harris leading Trump by from 11 to 12 percent, and in Georgia, data from Public Policy Polling had Harris up by one percent. Harris already campaigned just recently in Georgia, visiting the Atlanta area and joined there by both political and celebrity star power.
