Olivia Troye, a former official in the Trump administration, spoke out on CNN this Tuesday against Donald Trump’s candidacy for president this year as her political party insists on sticking by him.
Troye’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential race was part of the “Republicans for Harris” campaign initiative recently rolled out by the Democrat’s team.
“Your vote is private. It’s personal,” Troye said. “I know that people are scared about, you know, what will my friends and family think or they’ll judge me, or my neighbors will judge me if I’m voting for a Democrat because I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Republican. That’s fair, but at the end of the day, vote your conscience, your integrity and vote for a better future for the Republican Party. And we get there — like Roy LaHood said, we get there by defeating Donald Trump.”
Troye was appearing on CNN alongside LaHood, a former Republican Congressman and former official in the Obama administration who is also speaking out against Trump as this presidential election cycle advances.
Troye, meanwhile, was also set to moderate a “Republicans for Harris” campaign call taking place on Tuesday night as part of a stream of similarly fashioned fundraising calls targeting particular groups. There was even a “White Dudes for Harris” group that spurred Fox News discussions.
Meanwhile, as Harris continues as Democrats’ presidential pick for the year following the withdrawal from this year’s election of President Joe Biden, polling results that look promising for the Democrats keep coming. New polling done by The Bullfinch Group found Harris leading Trump in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, no matter if respondents were presented with just Harris and Trump or if other candidates from outside the major parties were named as well. In Wisconsin, Harris’ leads in both of those scenarios were nine percentage points!
