Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is holding another press conference this Thursday, this time at his golf property in Bedminster, New Jersey — and hours before it kicked off, the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris dropped a press release excoriating the plans.
“These remarks will not be artificial intelligence, but they will certainly lack intelligence,” the campaign said, referring to recent claims from Trump that the Harris campaign was using generative artificial intelligence software to fake images of large crowds at Harris’ campaign events.
“Banning abortion, raising costs on families, confusing basic facts, cutting Social Security and Medicare, blocking border security, and being publicly unstable, unfit, and unwell will not help his struggling campaign for president,” the Harris campaign added. “Tune in for the same old thing.”
Some of Trump’s recent public appearances — largely in the form of interviews and a Mar-a-Lago press conference rather than actual campaign rallies, no matter the rapidly approaching election — drew widespread criticism.
At a convention of the National Association of Black Journalists, for instance, Trump questioned Harris’ racial identity, saying that she just “happened to turn Black,” suggesting that she was being deceptive and/or conniving in identifying herself as such… although her father was born in Jamaica. And in an interview broadcast on X (formerly Twitter) with Elon Musk, Trump praised the prospect of firing workers on strike and talked about potentially heading to Venezuela in what sounded like the scenario of Trump losing this year’s general election.
Trump, meanwhile, seems preoccupied with imagining infighting among Democrats following the withdrawal in July from this year’s election of President Joe Biden, who endorsed Harris. Trump went pretty far with his theorizing, but there’s just no indication of truth to the stuff he’s talking about.
“Kamala Harris wants NOTHING TO DO WITH CROOKED JOE BIDEN. They are throwing him out on the Monday Night Stage, known as Death Valley. He now HATES Obama and Crazy Nancy more than he hates me! He is an angry man, as he should be. They stole the Presidency from him — “It was a Coup!”” Trump wrote online on Thursday.
