In a new discussion on MSNBC with the Rev. Al Sharpton, Democratic National Committee chair Jaime Harrison predicted victory against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the November election.
“Kamala Harris has been getting bigger crowds than Donald Trump. Kamala Harris has been getting more volunteers than Donald Trump. Kamala Harris has been getting better ratings than Donald Trump, raised more money than Donald Trump. And we are going to win this race. And he’s scared about that,” Harrison said in the discussion on MSNBC. “He’s scared to be beaten by this woman, this Black woman.”
Now, Trump is even cultivating uncertainty — again — around his prospective participation in a televised debate planned for next month with ABC News. The plans originated when the expected Democratic nominee was still President Joe Biden, who ultimately withdrew from this year’s race for president, endorsing Harris to replace him. With Harris, Trump then started talking about wanting instead to have a Fox News-hosted debate with a large audience before eventually conceding to ABC plans. But now, he’s wavering again.
“I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl’s(K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?” he posted to Truth Social on Sunday evening, adding: “They’ve got a lot of questions to answer!!! Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!!”
Apparently, the Harris campaign wants the candidates’ respective microphones left active for the entire duration of the debate instead of turning them off when they’re not up to speak. In theory, that could provide an opportunity for Harris to do some real-time fact-checking — and put Trump’s trademark antagonism on fuller display.
