Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s running mate in this year’s race for the White House, tried to post a social media message on Monday to mark Labor Day. Vance was reminded in return of his recent appearance at a fire fighters’ union gathering, where he was booed, repeatedly — including right as he tried to get his speech going.

A rapid response team on the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris posted a clip. They already helped publicize the footage around the time that the incident first took place.

Harris, who campaigned in both Michigan and Pennsylvania on Monday, already received the support of a series of major union organizations, including the United Auto Workers (UAW) in Michigan and the Culinary Union in Nevada. Harris was also backed by UNITE HERE, a wider organization with which the Culinary Union is connected — and amid these endorsements, union leadership also pledged support for Harris on the campaign trail.

“The UAW is launching its most ambitious political program in decades for an all-out effort to elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States. The Union’s program will include mobilizing UAW members online, at worksites, and in the field with a door-to-door program to reach members, retirees, and their families around a pro-worker, anti-Corporate Greed agenda,” the auto workers’ union said last month. The Culinary Union and UNITE HERE shared similar statements.

Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz, was campaigning in a third state on Monday. He went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin — the same city where Republicans’ held their national convention in July, formalizing Trump’s 2024 Republican presidential nomination. The schedule on Trump’s website as of early Tuesday appeared to indicate he himself would not return to the actual campaign trail until Saturday.
