The National Organization for Women (NOW) is standing — through its political action committee (PAC) — with the Democratic White House ticket of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in this year’s race for president.
And the other day, following a demeaning social media post from Republican nominee Donald Trump suggesting that Harris advanced her career through sexual activity, the NOW president blasted him as clearly unfit for the power that he seeks.
“Donald Trump is a convicted felon, misogynist, and sexual predator who continues to use sexual violence as a weapon to silence women. What’s more, his entire campaign is based on spreading misogyny and a permission structure for violence against women. That’s why he goes on Truth Social to post crude sexual references to Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton and amplify his followers’ own hate speech,” said Christian F. Nunes, the national president at NOW.
“We’ve seen Donald Trump behave this way for decades—showing nothing but disrespect for women, contempt for their worth, and aggression against their bodily autonomy. But now we’re at a turning point. The best way we shut down his misogyny and attacks on women is to beat him at the ballot box. We cannot allow abusers to hold power in the White House,” Nunes added.
In a recent interview with CNN, Harris herself was asked about some of Trump’s recent antagonism towards her on a personal level. Specifically, the network’s Dana Bash inquired about Trump claiming that Harris just “happened to turn Black,” suggesting she was being deceptive and/or conniving in identifying as such, although her father was born in Jamaica. Harris wanted to move on.
She called it the “same old tired playbook,” adding: “Next question please.” “That’s it?” Bash asked. “That’s it,” Harris replied. And the interview — in which Harris’ running mate Tim Walz also participated — continued from there.
