Trump Is “Not Fit To Be President,” Host Says After Big-Time Mess-Up On The Campaign Trail

At an event this week with Sarah Huckabee Sanders in Michigan, Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump started talking about “Bagram,” saying it’s in Alaska. Except, it’s not. “Bagram” refers to an airbase in Afghanistan.

What context (a discussion of energy policy) indicates he was trying to reference isn’t even in the same category of place. The rest of Trump’s description, besides the name, applied to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, abbreviated as ANWR.

“Trump is almost 80 and in cognitive decline. He was the president but doesn’t know where Bagram airbase is? This is becoming a daily occurrence where Trump shows us how much he has declined. He is not fit to be president,” talk show host Barry Markson asserted on social media after Trump’s flub.

Notably, until late July, Republicans themselves were helping lead the charge of making age a big issue in this election. That was until President Joe Biden withdrew from this year’s race for the White House in July, endorsing his second-in-command, Kamala Harris, to replace him. She quickly locked down support across the Democratic Party and is now their official nominee for this November’s face-off. And now, Trump is — by far — the oldest major party presidential candidate in this year’s election.

“Bagram was the airbase he had in Afghanistan- the same base where we kept hundreds of Taliban and ISIS prisoners that Trump released back out into Afghanistan in his final year in office. He is CLUELESS folks,” argued U.S. military veteran and former Senate candidate Amy McGrath on X, formerly called Twitter.

Meanwhile, Harris sat this week for an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists — during which she did not allege that anybody “happened to turn Black,” unlike what happened with Trump’s own, earlier sit-down.
