Appearing this week at a campaign trail event in the closely watched electoral battleground state of Pennsylvania, Republican former Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming again rallied by the cause of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ campaign, which if successful, would trounce Donald Trump’s ambitions — again.
“In this election, a broad coalition — a coalition unlike any that we have seen, certainly in modern American history — has come together to defeat Donald Trump. This is a coalition that may disagree on some things, but we’re bound together as we work to elect Vice President Kamala Harris. We are bound together,” Cheney said, according to a quote shared online by MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin.
Cheney previously went public with her support of Harris over Trump in this year’s race for the White House, and she was joined in Pennsylvania by former Trump administration staffers who were also supporting Harris — on the same night as another Trump rally elsewhere in Pennsylvania. The state also has a race for U.S. Senate on the ballot this year, though Democratic incumbent Bob Casey has tended to lead Trump-backed Republican nominee Dave McCormick by a lot.
Cheney, meanwhile, also endorsed Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Colin Allred, a Congressman in Texas running there in hopes of replacing Republican incumbent Ted Cruz, who’s seeking another term.
“I know that he will say anything if it serves his own political purpose,” Cheney argued, referring to Cruz. “And the nation is at a moment where we need public servants who are men and women of goodwill, who are men and women who will do the right thing. We need serious people in office. And the choice for the people of Texas is just a very clear one.… When there’s a candidate who is as competent and somebody of the kind of character as Colin, I think it’s very important that we support him.”
