Being a journalist is often a thankless, dangerous, and increasingly difficult job under Donald Trump. Attacks from the president calling the news media the “enemy of the people” have fueled hatred and contempt, and no one has so publicly been a target of this than CNN’s Jim Acosta.
The longtime journalist and new president began to spar in the first days of Trump’s presidency after news of the Trump/Russia dossier went public. Trump called Acosta out during his first press conference as “fake news.”
At that time, Trump’s press secretary was still Sean Spicer of “the biggest inauguration crowd ever, PERIOD!” fame. Now, Spicer has somehow turned the humiliation of his 182-day job in the Trump administration into his own show, as The New York Times first reported.
‘Sean Spicer, arguably the world’s most famous White House press secretary, is developing a talk show with the tentative title of “Sean Spicer’s Common Ground,” in which the former spokesman for President Trump interviews notable people in an informal setting.’

One of the first guests Spicer invited to his show was Acosta, who told CNN’s Brian Stetler on Reliable Sources that he has “politely” turned the offer down.
‘My sense of it is that Sean has crossed the line from being somebody who was a former press secretary from somebody who wants to resurrect his career and go on Fox News and bash CNN. And if he’s going to do that, I don’t think we should give him time to do that.’
