President Donald Trump remains unable and/or unwilling to deal with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who he derided this Thursday as a “mess” and supposedly incapable of understanding a new version of the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement that his administration has produced. Pelosi seems completely uninterested in engaging with Trump’s perpetual belligerence however, responding bluntly on Twitter that she (and the rest of the Democratic caucus) will be waiting for Trump to pull himself together if he wants to make progress on key policy issues he’s supposedly so intent on advancing.

As she put it:
‘When the “extremely stable genius” starts acting more presidential, I’ll be happy to work with him on infrastructure, trade and other issues.’
The latest exchange comes the day after Trump stormed out of a long-set meeting at which he’d been supposed to discuss infrastructure plans with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Trump spent a few minutes explaining how he supposedly would definitely not be working with Democrats on any sort of bipartisan policy pushes at all while they dared continue their investigative and oversight efforts in light of Pelosi asserting earlier in the morning that the president is engaged in a “cover-up.” Trump then went to an abruptly called press conference in the Rose Garden where he paraded himself as one of the greatest presidents in American history — his freely offered words, not an exaggeration — and for a day and following counting the ordeal has continued using seemingly every available opportunity to rant and rave about how great he supposedly is and how horrible Pelosi supposedly is.

In what’s clearly a grotesque display to many concerned observers, during remarks at the White House on Thursday, Trump pressured multiple administration officials into publicly praising his supposed mental fitness and levelheaded nature. Generally however, spending a day and counting frantically telling everyone how wonderfully calm you are and making others do the same isn’t exactly the mark of a “stable genius,” as Trump has repeatedly called himself.

Check out Twitter’s response to Pelosi pointing out the issue below. Elsewhere on Thursday, Pelosi went so far as to suggest that Trump’s family or staff should stage an “intervention” in light of his spiraling.
