Call him “Ludacris.” Donald Trump can fly without wings. He is the second coming of Tony the Tiger. He told us that tap water has frogs and toads in it. Trump won World War II all by himself. He invented the computer. All lies, yet if the ex-president would have said them, all of his followers would believe him. His is the biggest con in American history, perhaps even the world–that the 2020 election was stolen from him. This Trump-infested lie has taken real root among his believers, according to MSNBC. And there is more.
Speaking of lies, his claim of “296,589 ballots demanding investigation” and a supposed 150,000 ballots from voters who registered after the registration deadline. The Dispatch fact-checked him:
This isn’t true. The Tucson Sentinel reported less than “20,000 new registered voters–not 150,000–in Maricopa County” then. And USA Today reported:
‘[I]n December a U.S. district court judge dismissed allegations of voter fraud, specifically claims of illegal votes and foreign interference in Arizona in December, saying that the case was “sorely wanting of relevant or reliable evidence.”’
Just as unbelievable, the latest conspiracy involved hackers from Beijing. They stole almost 24,000 votes for Donald Trump in a rural Republican-leaning Wisconsin county.
A witness for MyPillow guy, Colonel Phil Waldron describes himself as having a background in “information warfare.” He also claimed that Dominion has ties to China and that the Chinese Communist Party “does have access to the Dominion code.”
There was no evidence to support this claim. Dominion released a statement:
‘The company has no ownership ties whatsoever to UBS, or the governments of China, Cuba, or Venezuela. [N]o foreign national directly or indirectly owns or controls the company.’
Rice University computer science professor who has researched electronic voting system security Dan Wallach said:
‘The ballots are ink on dead trees. Nothing that happens in China can change the ink on those dead trees.’
Clark County clerk and Republican Christina Jenson said. “And that’s Mike Lindell.” She has had to explain over and over to constituents, according to CNN:
‘[T[he local election computer system isn’t connected to the internet — and the county has less than 17,000 registered voters overall.’
But why did these people believe the lie? No matter what Jenson said, they refused to believe her:
‘They are like, “Well, Mike Lindell says this.”‘
Lindell believed the lie, too, calling it the “biggest cyber-crime in world history.” But a computer programmer who organizes voting machine hacking tests and has assisted with election audits Harri Hursti said:
‘These are not PCAP files. [Congress] has shown no evidence that he has PCAP files and he has shown no evidence that these files have anything to do with elections.’
Director of elections in Michigan Jonathan Bratersaid in a court filing:
‘[Allied Security Operations Group’s report] makes a series of unsupported conclusions, ascribes motives of fraud and obfuscation to processes that are easily explained as routine election procedures or error corrections, and suggests without explanation that elements of election software not used in Michigan are somehow responsible for tabulation or reporting that are either nonexistent or easily explained.’
Former Chief of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Chris Krebs testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
‘[He] called the report by Allied Security Operations Group throwing doubts on the election systems used in Antrim County “factually inaccurate.”‘
‘It implies those systems are undependable…He could find nothing in it to support those claims.’
Lindell insisted that he would release “evidence” of election hacking at a so-called symposium:
‘Nobody has seen what I have. No judge, nobody, until I sent you guys a piece of it.’
The Clark County solicitor said:
‘[T]hen it would mean that Biden actually won Adams County (a heavily Republican-leaning county) by an unprecedented landslide, which is probably not the outcome that Mr. Lindell and his associates are fishing for.’
County Clerk Lisa Brown said:
‘It’s very convenient to say after the fact, “oh, you know, it was hacked.” his is a guy who sells pillows… I don’t know why anybody would want to listen to him as an expert on anything related to elections.’
Professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan and expert in voting machines J. Alex Halderman said Lindell was being “completely ridiculous:”
‘When security experts produce evidence, we don’t send around video of hex-encoded files — that’s entirely Hollywood. What we do is share the original data (along with information to support its provenance and authenticity) and explain our interpretation so that other experts can verify or dispute it.’
Jensen responded to the lie that “23,909 votes for Trump had been switched in her county — after a concerned voter emailed her a link to it.” Keep in mind that Trump won the country with over 5,000 votes:
‘It made me angry. He has created a lot of doubt in a lot of peoples’ minds, even though the count was accurate.’
