As part of a new investigation into the investment business infamously led by Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner following his exit from a stint on his father-in-law’s presidential team, Senate Finance Committee chairman Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is demanding copies of all communications between the company and a key Saudi fund.

That Saudi Arabian entity — the country’s Public Investment Fund — is already known to have placed large amounts of money with Kushner’s business, spurring worries about potential conflicts of interest. Kushner himself apparently helped deal with foreign policy when on his father-in-law’s team in the White House, and while Kushner is apparently not directly participating in the Trump political team as Donald seeks a return to power, “son-in-law” is still a close relationship for substantial financial entanglements with this foreign power.

“Please provide copies of all communications between Affinity employees and any representatives from the Saudi PIF, or any third parties acting on behalf of the Saudi PIF, since Affinity’s inception in 2021,” said a bullet point in a new letter from Wyden to a top figure at the Kushner-helmed company.

Wyden is also seeking details, notably, on Kushner’s own earnings. Wyden asked that the company “describe in detail how much Kushner was paid annually by Affinity in salary, bonuses, other compensation, dividends and any other distributions associated with equity interest in Affinity.”

Trump himself has his own apparent financial entanglements with the same foreign source, since his properties have hosted a series of events for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, a league still on the newer side. Trump has avidly promoted the league’s operations, partly against the backdrop of Trump himself facing some pushback and distancing by other established forces in professional golf after some of the chaos during his presidential term. And the payments to Trump’s companies for hosting these events appear to have been large.
