Liz Cheney Declares Leading Republicans To Be Cowards Over Their Support Of Trump

Responding to news coverage of the Trump campaign claiming that federal authorities were aiming to effectively assassinate Trump around the time of a law enforcement search of the ex-president’s Florida property Mar-a-Lago, former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney deemed Trump “unstable and dangerous.”

The origin of the Trump corner’s claim is the routine allowance for the use of deadly force in the conducting of the Mar-a-Lago search, which was the execution of a warrant amid what became Trump’s classified documents criminal case. Details point squarely to the allowance being standard rather than in any way related to Trump in particular and indicative of some kind of violent intentions against him.

“Donald Trump is unstable and dangerous. He knows this is a lie that could again provoke violence from those who blindly follow him. Rs in Congress: You know Trump is unfit. When will you put aside your cowardice and stand up for what you know is right?” Cheney wrote online Wednesday.

A version of the original claim has been pushed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). “Merrick Garland issued a kill order for President Trump. The raid on Mar-a-Lago should’ve never happened,” claimed a post from Greene from just this Thursday, the same day as Trump’s widely discussed campaign rally in the Bronx: a jurisdiction he lost by an absolutely massive margin in the 2020 presidential election.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), an outspoken member of House committees including the legislative chamber’s Judiciary Committee, accused Greene in turn of setting up a “pretext” for violence with her remarks, which completely obscured the routine nature of that allowance being part of the set-up for the Trump raid back in 2022. At times, Greene has openly aligned herself with groups that, in reality, are connected in turn to serious violence. Specifically, her advocacy on behalf of Capitol riot defendants — many of whom were accused of violence against police, with many from that group pleading guilty or being convicted — has been consistent!
