Under questioning from Fox News’ Peter Doocy after a guilty verdict against ex-President Donald Trump at a New York City trial, President Joe Biden shut down the incessant idea from Trump’s corner that Biden is secretly involved in Trump’s legal troubles, which extend for now to three other criminal cases.

“Are you worried that this could happen to you someday?” Doocy asked, referring to the legal developments. “Somebody comes up with some charges and tries to bring you into court after your term?”

Biden seemed unfazed. “Not at all,” the president replied. “I didn’t do anything wrong. The system still works.”

“And when Trump says you’re just trying to bruise him, what do you say?” Doocy then asked, adding: “He thinks you’re pulling the strings behind the scenes, doing all of this to help yourself.”

The president was again unfazed. “I didn’t know I was that powerful,” Biden mockingly replied.

There is apparently no real-world evidence of the president or his political team actually involving themselves in proceedings facing Trump, which are the work of grand juries at the federal and state levels responding to prosecutors in the U.S. Justice Department and at two district attorneys’ offices across two states.

Now, Trump is heading towards a New York sentencing at some point and looming appeals, besides continuing to face those additional cases concerning alleged plots against the 2020 election outcome and the allegedly illegal harboring of government documents. The judge in the latter case, Trump nominee Aileen Cannon, continues facing intense criticism for decisions perceived as supporting Trump’s ambitions, like her recent choice to indefinitely delay the trial. If it’s pushed to after the election and Trump wins, the proceedings could be put on ice indefinitely. It’s the same with the U.S. Supreme Court-delayed federal case against Trump on 2020 election-related allegations.
