A mobile billboard with a reminder that former President Donald Trump is a convicted felon apparently showed up this week outside the ex-White House occupant’s Florida property Mar-a-Lago, where he has spent a significant chunk of his time since exiting power.

Trump gained that status with a jury conviction on all counts at a New York City criminal trial on allegations of falsifying business records in connection to hush money from before the 2016 presidential election for a woman named Stormy Daniels. He was specifically accused of concealing the true nature of payments to Michael Cohen, a former ally of his who provided Daniels with the money. The funds that Cohen was given included repayments for doing so and weren’t just routine legal expenses, said prosecutors. Both Daniels and Cohen testified.

Trump is now set for sentencing next month. First, he and incumbent President Joe Biden, who are expected to face each other in an electoral rematch later this year, have a first debate of this election cycle later this week in Georgia, a closely watched state after Biden’s narrow win there in 2020 that helped put him over the top in the electoral college.

The debate is being conducted outside the auspices of the traditionally used Commission on Presidential Debates, and it appears that the two major party-contenders will be the only candidates on the stage, excluding candidates like independent Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who originally ran in this election cycle as a Democrat but gained little traction against Biden in the primary.

None of Trump’s legal problems have significantly shaken off his support from inside the GOP, which remains on track to formally nominate him for president — again — next month.
