In a blog post, Mary L. Trump — a niece to former President Donald Trump — said following the debate held this week between her uncle and incumbent President Joe Biden that she was still firmly with the latter ahead of the two’s expected electoral rematch later this year.

Though Biden spoke at a rally in North Carolina shortly after the debate where what’s deemed his performance was praised, he faced criticism for how he came across during the one-on-one with Trump in Georgia, a highly watched state in electoral terms. The idea even took off, amplified by some writing in The New York Times, of replacing Biden as the anticipated Democratic pick for president this year. But Biden has shown no indication of stepping back, no matter his advanced age, which he has acknowledged and discussed.

“My uncle is a cruel and fundamentally dishonest man, a criminal and a traitor. He deserves no praise for lying forcefully or denigrating America with vigor or laying out a dystopian vision of American in which basic human rights are stripped from millions of women just because he did so with crystal [clarity],” wrote Mary.

Biden addressed his performance at debates in that rally held after the face-off this week.

“Folks, I don’t walk as easy as I used to,” Biden told attendees, who were vociferously in his corner. “I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. And I know like millions of Americans know: When you get knocked down, you get back up.” Attendees applauded.
