Donald Trump thinks that the U.S. government and people should be all about “America First” but that other countries should, too. On Sunday, Trump tweeted about the current protests in France that have turned violent. He has no idea, however, what the protests are about.
The protests are over the 16 percent rise in gas prices in France and have nothing to do with the United States. Trump has no clue here what he’s talking about, which surprises absolutely no one.
There are also claims that the far right has infiltrated the protests, turning them violent. One of the organizers of the march, Thierry Paul Valette, expressed his dismay with the change since the original plan did not include any violent action.
‘The objective was to unite everybody here in Paris. I am disappointed because it wasn’t meant to be like this.’
One protester, Ludivine Landrin, explained the purpose of the protest, and unsurprisingly it has nothing to do with the United States or Donald Trump.
‘I’m here because I am a citizen. I want the struggle to come together. I want the French state to understand that we are here together. We want another state, we want another government…In France we have a lot of taxes. The beginning of the movement was about taxes on fuel. The movement became bigger because all the taxes are making people fed up. The Macron government is making everyone fed up — on the right and on the left. We are all fed up with Macron and his government.’
It may come as a shock to Trump, but not everything is about him.
