America is living in a dual reality. There is what people’s eyes and ears tell them. Then, there is Donald Trump’s warped reality that reflects back like a fairground’s house of mirrors. That is the reality he keeps trying to herd everyone into. There is a big problem with Trump’s reality: it is dangerous.
The problem with the president’s reality has been where it will lead him. POTUS blew up at people who brought him the bad news. Rather than get fired, aides learned to temper what they brought to him. However, when Trump saw the conflicting news on television, he believed the media was “fake news.” At that point, the question became how would Trump punish the newsmakers?
When despots began to attack the media, that has been the beginning of a very dangerous slope. It has led Russia to poison journalists or Saudi Arabia to hack up The Washington Post correspondent. Trump tweeted out his warning:
‘The LameStream Media is far beyond Fake News, they are treading in very dangerous territory!’
Trump was referring to his poll numbers:
‘Great cohesion inside the Republican Party, the best I have ever seen. Despite all of the Fake News, my Poll Numbers are great. New internal polls show them to be the strongest we’ve had so far! Think what they’d be if I got fair media coverage!’
