Trump Adviser Majorly Humiliated In Weekend Appearance On CNN

President Donald Trump and his supporters are growing increasingly unhinged in their attempts to respond to the impeachment case that Democrats in Congress have successfully brought. This weekend, just days after her boss was formally impeached by the House, Trump legal adviser Jenna Ellis went on a bizarre tirade during a CNN appearance, where she defended her claim that Democrats “hate America and hate our Constitution.” That’s just megalomaniac nonsense — but it’s coming from a legal adviser to the president of the United States, which means it can’t be ignored like the unhinged rantings of an anonymous social media agitator.

Host Victor Blackwell asked Ellis to expand on her assertion on Fox News that Democrats’ 2020 message will be that they, uh, “hate America!” — whatever that’s supposed to mean. She had a rapid fire defense ready to go, apparently. She railed:

‘Well let’s look at everything that the Democrat candidates — and in context, on Hannity last night, that was in the context of the Democratic candidates who are running for president and running on extreme socialist agendas antithetical to our Constitution and to our standards of liberty and the fact that our government is obligated constitutionally to preserve and protect limited rights that are pre-political and come from God our creator, not from our government. And so when I say that Democrats hate America, it’s that they hate our American values. They don’t want to protect the standards of freedom and liberty. and certainly both the Democratic candidates as well as Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic majority in the House are not abiding by our Constitution.’

Watch:

She went on to claim that Congressional Democrats are “impeaching President Trump merely because they hate him, because there is absolutely no standard by which they have passed these articles that would pass legal muster here.” That’s just not true. The evidence upon which Congressional Democrats have built their impeachment case is all right there — they’ve made it public. Witness after witness have publicly described the president’s attempt to pressure Ukraine into investigating his domestic political opponents. Republicans are just behaving in a belligerently and willfully ignorant fashion at this point.

And now, Ellis indicates, they’ve jumped into claiming that Democrats are attacking… God? With her commentary about Democrats’ supposed opposition to “God-given rights” — none of which she actually names — she has cast the struggle to re-elect Donald Trump as some kind of holy war. As should mostly go without saying, that’s ludicrous and potentially dangerous.

Numerous Trump supporters have already gone viral for threatening violence if their Dear Leader loses — and an occasional Trump supporter has even already been arrested for plotting and/or attempting to carry out that violence against targets like Democratic Congresswomen and CNN.

Democrats are not fighting against Constitutional rights; they’re advocating for simple attention to the basic human needs of people other than the president’s base. Republican belligerence including claims otherwise has sparked an ongoing delay in the transmission of the impeachment case to the Senate. House Democrats are concerned about Senate Republican leaders’ pledges against fairness.
