In any other presidential era, the scandal over an adult film star having been paid $130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair with the president of the United States would be the main topic of conversation across the nation.

In the Trump era, thanks to the fact that the president has been accused of everything from sexual harassment and assault to collusion with a foreign power and obstruction of justice, the scandal is just one of many.

Still, it’s ironic to consider that the president is accused of having an extramarital affair with a porn star and yet still manages to hang on to conservative Christian support.

There’s now been a new development in that scandal; on Wednesday, the day after Trump lawyer Michael Cohen revealed that he’d paid Stormy Daniels the previously reported sum supposedly out of his own pocket, Daniels — given name Stephanie Clifford — revealed via a representative to the Associated Press that she feels she is now free to tell her story.

Her reasoning is that Cohen’s public confirmation of the previously reported sum violates the non-disclosure agreement that the respective parties apparently signed.

Now, the AP reports that Gina Rodriguez says that Clifford “will discuss her alleged 2006 extramarital affair with Trump” after having previously avoided answering questions about the subject.

What’s ironic is that there have been previous, widely reported upon denials from the Trump team of the credibility of the reports about the scandal.

Evidently, then, we’ve reached a point where essentially everything uttered by a White House official should be taken with a grain of salt.

Thanks, Trump.
