Donald Trump is currently attending a meeting of the United Nations, touting his “America First” policies to world leaders stunned that he remains in office considering his utter lack of comprehension skills and his inability to lead. To prove all of their perceptions of him correct, Trump took to Twitter.
It’s possible that Trump was being sarcastic about his “lovely man” quip regarding Hassan Rouhani. It’s difficult to tell with a president who has called Putin “a strong leader” and Kim Jong Un “a smart cookie” while expressing his admiration for the two dictators. What isn’t in question is whether or not Trump and Rouhani ever discussed meeting. The Daily Beast reports that:
‘Rouhani said Monday he would not meet with the U.S. president this week when the two world leaders are both in New York for the United Nations General Assembly session. He told NBC News: “Naturally, if someone is keen on having a meeting and holding dialogue and creating progress in relationships, that person would not use the tool of sanctions and threats [and bring] to bear all of its power against another government and nation.”’
One would get the sense from that statement, made some time before Trump claimed that Rouhani wanted to meet, that Rouhani had no intention of meeting with Trump during the UN meeting.
To prove even further his unfitness to lead and complete inability to tell the truth, Trump bragged about a Fox News segment that discussed a new Gallup poll that found that GOP favorability, for the first time in seven years, is higher than Democratic favorability.
The margin showed that the GOP had a 45 percent favorability rating while the Democrats are at 44 percent. If anyone is counting, that’s one point. One, not three.
In addition to his seeming lack of mathematical skills, Trump also contradicted himself with his bragging on the Gallup poll. This is, after all, one of the many polls he’s called “fake news” when the results are negative against him. For instance, right now Gallup has Trump at a 40 percent approval rating among American voters and a 56 percent disapproval rating. That puts Trump at -16 among voters.
