It’s morbidly funny for President Donald Trump to attempt to cast himself as a moral leader while remaining the same guy who — among many, many other things — just recently lauded a Montana GOP Congressman for bodyslamming a reporter.

This week, he appeared before a White House gathering of attendees of the Young Black Leadership Summit, a conservative event whose latest installment semi-professional liar Charlie Kirk called the largest ever.

Summing up his time, he offered a snippet of… uh… advice for those following his Twitter account.

He said:

‘If you meet every day with optimism – if you confront every obstacle with determination – if you refuse to give up, if you never quit, if you face every challenge with confidence and pride – then there is no goal you cannot achieve, and no dream beyond your reach!’

Of course, to accurately reflect the president’s apparent thinking, there would need to be a post-script added onto that quote. It should read that there’s no dream beyond your reach — unless you’re a poor would-be immigrant, a Muslim from another country, a supporter of the Democrats, or even a woman. Trump has singled out each and every one of those groups for undercuts, trying to keep some from ever entering the United States in the first place and others from making it up through the American political system while he’s at the top of it.

When he does pander to members of minority communities, it’s weird at best.

For example, during the same appearance he summarized with the above cited quote, he told those in attendance:

‘I can just look at the incredible beautiful and handsome faces. Today, you’re not allowed to use those terms because they’ll say you’re – but you know what, I’ll use it anyway, beautiful and handsome. Look at all these handsome faces… It’s not politically correct. We have to bring that back into the world of being OK, right?’

In other words, hardworking black Americans seem like political playthings for him to bat around — and he can keep his advice.
