It is no secret that Donald Trump hates the media, but why? Investigative journalists turn over the rocks hiding the president’s cruelty, his deceptions, and his attempts to undermine the nation’s democracy. POTUS just sent out a memo trying to manipulate NBC, CNN, and MSNBC into keeping a list of Democratic politicians and the former director of the CIA off the air and silencing their voice. That is utterly shocking. Yet, he does not stop.
Trump has been adding to his enemies list a whole rash of individuals — with the exception of the Fox Network, which The New Yorker called his own “servile propaganda operation.” The man who occasionally sits in the Oval Office has been busy tweeting about “the Enemy of the People:”
‘The Mainstream Media is under fire and being scorned all over the World as being corrupt and FAKE. For two years they pushed the Russian Collusion Delusion when they always knew there was No Collusion. They truly are the Enemy of the People and the Real Opposition Party!’
Staff writer of the New Yorker Jane Mayer just wrote about the “media” Trump does like, Fox News:
‘Conservative media outlets, however, focus more intently on confirming their audience’s biases, and are much more susceptible to disinformation, propaganda, and outright falsehoods (as judged by neutral fact-checking organizations such as PolitiFact)…
“…Jerry Taylor, the co-founder of the Niskanen Center, a think tank in Washington for moderates, says, “In a hypothetical world without Fox News, if President Trump were to be hit hard by the Mueller report, it would be the end of him. But, with Fox News covering his back with the Republican base, he has a fighting chance, because he has something no other President in American history has ever had at his disposal—a servile propaganda operation.”’
