President Donald Trump has again gone full racist in recent days with the demand that progressive Democratic Congresswomen “go back where they came from” instead of criticizing his administration. The targeted Congresswomen bluntly slammed the president’s behavior in a joint interview this week that aired on CBS and included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), and Ilhan Omar (Minn.). The progressive leaders concluded that the platform they stand for along with so many others across the United States represents a core of people’s interests and Trump is a raging racist standing in the corner flinging nonsense as a “distraction” from these real, key issues.

Tlaib, for instance, noted that she has been fielding conversation about the president’s criticism while trying to deal with issues like planned Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeting immigrant communities and overall just trying to “do the job we were sent here to do.” Ocasio-Cortez added:

‘I think America has always been a story and America has always been about the triumph of people who fight for everyone versus those who want to preserve rights for just a select few. There is no bottom to the barrel of vitriol that will be used and weaponized to stifle those who want to advance rights for all people in in the United States.’

Pressley, for her part, defended the Congresswomen and their allies’ place to go after Trump in the first place, insisting that he “does not embody the principles, the responsibility, the grace, the integrity of a true president, and so for that reason, I’m not dishonoring the office, he does, every day.”

Omar shot down a question from host Gayle King about whether the Congresswomen really were playing into some kind of three dimensional chess game from the president, insisting that “you should be asking why is it that we are being criticized,” calling the group a “disruption to business as usual.”

Watch the interview:

Trump, besides telling these Congresswomen to go back where they came from, has also veered through insisting that they support Al Qaeda, hate the United States, hate the White House, and so on. Just this Wednesday, he posted a quote from Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy decrying the Congresswomen as the “four horsewomen of the apocalypse” and “wack jobs.” Yes, we have reached the point where the president of the United States is taking to social media to decry progressive women of color as “wack jobs” after they dared disagree with him.

This week, the U.S. House voted to formally and explicitly condemn Trump’s behavior as racist, which Republicans were mostly unsurprisingly up in arms about. The chamber voted to bend standing House rules in order to allow for the declaration; decorum had previously insisted against decrying a president as racist.

For his part, through all of his conspiratorial finger-pointing, Trump has somehow found it in himself to declare that he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body. Former vice president turned Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden offered a fitting response to that when he quipped that the president must mean he doesn’t have any bones. Singling out progressive leaders on the basis of their race is… wait for it… racism! This shouldn’t be that hard!
