Former Apprentice Star/Trump Campaign Staffer Goes Full Stupid

In case you’ve been wondering how Trump would campaign in 2020 considering the disastrous presidency he’s run so far, a campaign staffer named Tana Goertz answered that question for a CBS campaign reporter. He’ll simply ignore all of the many failures and harms his presidency has created and pretend he’s done the best job in history.

When Adam Brewster, a reporter covering the Trump campaign, asked the former Apprentice contestant what she would say to women who voted for Trump in 2016 but switched parties and voted for Democratic Congresswoman Cindy Axne during the 2018 midterms. Goertz insisted that Axne would have never beat Trump in a head-to-head matchup because he’s got such “power and pull” and then uttered the claim that made a video of her remarks quickly go viral.

Rolling Stone reports:

‘Tana Goertz, a former Apprentice contestant who appeared in the show’s third season is now employed as a senior employee of the Donald Trump campaign, and earlier this week, she delivered a doozy of a soundbyte, saying that only Mother Theresa has done more for women than the president.

‘In a video clip that quickly circulated around Twitter, Goertz said, “I know this man. I know his stamina. There’s not a person alive that literally has done so much for a female, for the female population. I can’t think of one person, except for Mother Teresa. I mean, literally, who has done more for women in office than Donald Trump?”’

There are more than a few obvious issues with that claim, not the least of which is that Mother Theresa can’t be the only person alive who’s done more for women than Trump because she died almost 22 years ago. Of course, there’s also the many women who are still alive who have done far more for women’s rights than Trump, such as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Angela Davis, bell hooks, Gloria Steinem, Alice Walker, and Malala Yousafzai. All of those women were trailblazers in the fight for women’s rights, while Trump has been accused of rape and sexual assault by 22 different women and was once famously quoted as saying about women “you have to treat ’em like sh*t.”

‘Explaining Axne’s victory, Goertz, who is Trump Team Coordinator in Iowa, maintained that the Democrat only won because Trump was not on the ticket. “If Donald Trump was running, we would have never lost anything,” she said. “There’s different candidates running that don’t have the power that Donald Trump has, and the pull.”’

Comparing Trump to any feminist, much less a humanitarian, is laughable, and the majority of women who will be voting know it, too. Trump’s approval rating among women currently stands at a paltry 31 percent, and is far lower among black and brown women. As Rolling Stone pointed out, there are a lot of good reasons for that.

‘Let’s look at some of the things Trump has done for women while in office. He’s called the female prime minister of Denmark “nasty;” he’s denied abortion access to immigrant women in detention; forced Planned Parenthood to reject federal funding, costing women more money for their services; cut funding for comprehensive sex education in favor of abstinence-only programs; and made it easier for employers to deny female employees contraceptive coverage.’
