Donald Trump Jr. has joined the pompously moralizing bandwagon against the Bidens in the wake of revelations that his father, President Donald Trump, had pressured Ukraine to produce dirt on the family over completely unsubstantiated allegations of corruption. This week on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, he flipped out over the supposed nepotism at play in the Biden case, meaning the assumption that former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter benefited from his last name thanks to his dad’s connections. Seemingly maintaining not a single shred of basic human self-awareness, not once did Trump Jr. mention his own career and how it’s built on — wait for it — his own father’s last name.
‘When you’re the father, and your son’s entire career is dependent on that, they own you, Sean. They’ve bought Biden Inc., and they’ve been doing it both domestically whether it was MBNA Bank, whether it was Amtrak, whatever it was — domestically, when he was a senator, and had influence over domestic policy, and they started doing it internationally the second Joe Biden became vice president and had authority abroad.’

Trump Jr. really doesn’t have a single ounce of self-awareness, does he? The Trump camp’s allegation is that companies employed Hunter Biden on the basis of his last name, and that employment served as leverage to get the vice president to do what they wanted. These allegations are made up — there’s no demonstrable evidence of a shred of actually tangible connection that Joe had to Hunter’s work with the most scrutinized company, Ukraine’s Burisma Holdings. You can’t wish corruption into existence.
The Trumps, meanwhile, have all — including the president — maintained very demonstrable, tangible connections to foreign financial interests while Trump has been in office, and President Donald Trump has made demonstrable decisions in line with those financial interests. For instance, there is a Trump Tower development in Istanbul, Turkey, and Turkish President Recip Tayyip Erdogan attended that development’s opening.
The president’s daughter Ivanka — who works in the White House as his adviser — even tweeted:
‘Thank you Prime Minister Erdogan for joining us yesterday to celebrate the launch of #TrumpTowers Istanbul!’
Notably enough, there’s no reason to believe that Ivanka (or her husband Jared Kushner) would have jobs anywhere near government if not for their family connection. Nepotism defines his family, but Trump Jr. wants us to think he’s concerned about it.
As president, Trump just recently made the abrupt, adviser-less decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Syria to get out of the way of a planned Turkish ethnic cleansing operation targeting local Kurds.
In another instance, right after he was elected, the Saudi Arabian government spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at Trump’s D.C. hotel. In the time since, he’s let them run off the hook too. He’s even denied the legitimacy of evidence produced by the U.S. condemning the country’s leadership as behind the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
So yeah — Trump Jr. is in no position to speak here whatsoever. He acts like anyone would care about his whiny belligerence and attempts at relevance if his last name wasn’t Trump.
