On Wednesday night, the Washington Nationals clinched a World Series victory with their 6-2 win over the Houston Astros. As with most championship teams have throughout the course of history, the Nationals received an invitation to visit the White House.

But Washington closer Sean Doolittle told Washington Post’s Jesse Dougherty that he will not be attending the event at the White House on Monday, stating that:
‘I don’t want to hang out with somebody who talks like that.

Doolittle is well-known as one of the more outwardly Liberal MLB players and has been very outspoken on social issues. He and his wife, Eireann Dolan, vehemently supported Pride Nights and they hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for Syrian refugees during Dolittle’s time with the Oakland Athletics. Doolittle also penned an op-ed on veterans’ issues. Not much has changed since Doolittle and Dolan moved to Washington, so this response from him isn’t necessarily surprising, but we hope it will DEFINITELY strike a nerve with Trump! It certainly has received quite a response from the Twitterverse, who have come out in droves to support Doolittle.

I read through this thread for several minutes and didn’t see ONE negative response, which speaks volumes, considering.
Doolittle is the first on the Nationals team to say he won’t be going to the White House on Monday, but we do hope that more of his team will follow his lead. It’s time that all professional sports teams stand up against their GM’s and boycott this so-called “president” for good.
