Donald Trump has been appearing on camera every afternoon for two hours at a time. He uses his TV to defend his mistakes, blame others for what he has done, and attack his perceived enemies. Yet, there has been something important missing each time.
POTUS’ self-interest is so strong that it completely obscures Americans’ suffering. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a brilliant tactician. With one hand, she takes the public’s pulse. With the other hand, she draws her sword against Trump’s “catastrophic failure” to urgently deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
This energetic 80-year-old is second in line to the presidency, right after Vice President Mike Pence. She is a master fundraiser who understands politics as only someone who has been immersed in them for seven decades.
Both her father and brother were Baltimore mayors, and the Speaker worked alongside her activist mother distributing information. Yet, she is well-aware of what the nation’s people need. Pelosi called Trump out for delaying American’s emergency checks “just to print his name” on them:
‘Delaying direct payments to vulnerable families just to print his name on the check is another shameful example of President Trump’s catastrophic failure to treat this crisis with the urgency it demands.’
