Polls on the national level and in many individual swing states indicate that support for President Donald Trump is sinking around the country, but this Monday morning, he rushed to Twitter to try and convince observers that dubiously claimed private polling done by the Trump team has the president in the lead. Of course, Trump provided no evidence for his claims, meaning that he wants observers to take him at his word — although he has lied a staggering, inordinate number of times while in office. Trump doesn’t get to just wish the very real polls out of existence that show him losing big time.
On the same morning that a Supreme Court decision was revealed in which Chief Justice John Roberts joined with the court’s liberals to uphold abortion rights in Louisiana, Trump tweeted:
‘Sorry to inform the Do Nothing Democrats, but I am getting VERY GOOD internal Polling Numbers. Just like 2016, the @nytimes Polls are Fake! The @FoxNews Polls are a JOKE! Do you think they will apologize to me & their subscribers AGAIN when I WIN? People want LAW, ORDER & SAFETY!’

Is this Trump’s re-election strategy — to claim that all the polls he doesn’t like are “Fake” and “a JOKE”? Is he just going to try and wish himself into a second term in office? The polls showing Trump losing big time to Joe Biden are real; end of story.

Not even Trump’s claim that The New York Times ever “apologized” to him in the first place is correct — they very definitively did no such thing. After the 2016 election, the paper simply issued a note insisting that they’d “rededicate” themselves to the principles of finely tuned journalism in the weeks and months ahead. As PolitiFact explained, “Nowhere in the letter did the authors write anything like an apology.” Fundamentally, Trump lives in a self-obsessed reality of his own making.
On Monday morning, Trump also yet again complained about a protest area in Seattle. It’s a comparatively very small area of the city in which the protest in question has been taking place, but Trump has ludicrously claimed that the city has been “taken over.” This time, he tweeted:
‘Seattle Looters, Agitators, Anarchists and “Protestors”, are now refusing to leave the “CHOP” Zone. They have ZERO respect for Government, or the Mayor of Seattle or Governor of Washington State! Not good!’
So many useless tweets from the president, and so little action.
